My Film poster (ideas)

I have two different ideas for my film poster so i thought that if I created them both on paint.net, I could then ask my peers which they though would look best.

Out of the ten people I asked 7 people preferred the pixelated image as they said it adds more mystery to the poster. I like the fact that only half of the picture is pixelated. Other comments were that the poster looked best in black and white and I should keep the eyes covered with the title. Somebody also commented that it look better when the 'uninvited' did not have a black background. I will take these comments into consideration when constructing my final poster.

Making my logo.

To make my logo I used paint.net. It was simple and easy to use. After creating the 'blood splat' effect, by layering i wrote the title over it. I used the magic wand to go around the edges giving them an 'edgy' look.
After achieving the logo i wanted I uploaded it to my blog and I will now use it in my final magazine and film poster.

Black and white film posters.

I have been researching further film posters which use black and white as their main colours, I have been doing this as I believe using mainly black and white will create a better effect for my film poster. I think that it will make my poster look more mysterious and it will fulfil its purpose as a film poster to entice the audience into seeing the film.

I really like the colours of this poster, I think the red really stands out and the most important parts of the poster are in red, meaning this will catch the reader's eye. I think red will work well on my poster as it has connotations of blood and danger. I also like how simple the poster is, it includes only the relevant information. The main things the reader wants to know is, who stars in the film and the films title. These two things are clearly accessible and in red so that the reader will look at them first.

I think the way the red runs through the characters face is a great way of making the audience know that charcater is in danger. Also, the red connects the two characters perhaps suggesting danger connects the two, or that the bottom character controls the danger. The victim of my trailer is not appearing in the film poster, however I think the red is a good way of representing the victim. I want my font to stand out like it does on this poster, which is why i want a black background.

After receiving feedback on the drafts of our ancillary products, I researched different ideas for a logo of my film.I liked the idea of having blood over the title. I think this is a really good idea as it will represent the genre of my film and give the audience an insight into the nature of the film. Also as I want to keep my poster quite simple and I think this will look good, without being over the top and giving too much away. I will use this on my final magazine and film poster.

Feedback

After showing my trailer to my class I received many different areas of feedback. I shall apply the suggested changes when editting my final cut.
Many people said the font was a bit boring and didn't look as professional as it maybe could. I am going to research different fonts on horror trailers to try and find on for suitable. Also the length of how long the slides of writing were shown for could be reduced so it is not 'boring'.
Another comment was that there were too many straight cuts. To improve this I will use more effects. This will make my trailer more interesting.
My classmates also commented that I should use the film title I am using on my magazine and poster on my trailer. This will also make the trailer look more professional. I will also add a release date or 'this summer' to the trailer. This adds relevant information, that the viewer would be interested in to the poster.
Positive feedback received was that the music changes were good as the atmosphere changes and some cuts were good when used with effects.
