Font for my tagline.
I have been looking at different types and colours for the font of my tag line. I am aiming to achieve a simple look for my film poster, therefore the font must also be simple.

I like this font because I think it looks 'scrawled' this could reflect the recklessness and carelessness of the acts in the film. It also looks quite childish which could reflect the age of the killer.

I do not really like this font, although it is simple and 'matter of fact' i also think it is a bit dull and lacks and character.

I do like this font because I think as well as being simple it is bold and stands out. i think it will fit in with the font of the title of my film which will keep it looking more neat.

What would you expect from a teaser trailer?
While editing my final version of my teaser trailer, I need to make sure I include all of the things that are expected of a trailer. To make sure my trailer does contain these things I asked five people, from my class, the following questions.
1)What do you expect from a teaser trailer?
- To be enticed
- To be intrigued
- For it to grab your attention
- To make you want to see the film.
- To grasp an idea what the film is about/what genre it is.
From these answers I have realised that when watching my trailer back I must make sure that these aspects are included. The genre of my film must be clear, and I must be careful to try and keep the trailer exciting.
2)What would you expect from a horror teaser trailer?
- Scary
- To be able to identify the victim
- Tense
- Shocking end
- Leave the viewer on edge/shocked.
While making changes to my trailer I need to make sure I keep my viewers interested and I also need to make sure it contains the key factors of a horror teaser trailer.
3)What do you think would not make a good teaser trailer?
- Too much writing
- For it to be boring
- Lots of straight cuts
- No music/sound effects
- Shot held for too long
As my trailer includes music and sound effects I do not need to worry about the fourth point, however my trailer does contain writing. I need to make sure the writing shots are not shown for too long, so they will not bore the audience

My Film poster (ideas)
I have two different ideas for my film poster so i thought that if I created them both on paint.net, I could then ask my peers which they though would look best.

Out of the ten people I asked 7 people preferred the pixelated image as they said it adds more mystery to the poster. I like the fact that only half of the picture is pixelated. Other comments were that the poster looked best in black and white and I should keep the eyes covered with the title. Somebody also commented that it look better when the 'uninvited' did not have a black background. I will take these comments into consideration when constructing my final poster.

Making my logo.
To make my logo I used paint.net. It was simple and easy to use. After creating the 'blood splat' effect, by layering i wrote the title over it. I used the magic wand to go around the edges giving them an 'edgy' look.
After achieving the logo i wanted I uploaded it to my blog and I will now use it in my final magazine and film poster.

Black and white film posters.
I have been researching further film posters which use black and white as their main colours, I have been doing this as I believe using mainly black and white will create a better effect for my film poster. I think that it will make my poster look more mysterious and it will fulfil its purpose as a film poster to entice the audience into seeing the film.

I really like the colours of this poster, I think the red really stands out and the most important parts of the poster are in red, meaning this will catch the reader's eye. I think red will work well on my poster as it has connotations of blood and danger. I also like how simple the poster is, it includes only the relevant information. The main things the reader wants to know is, who stars in the film and the films title. These two things are clearly accessible and in red so that the reader will look at them first.

I think the way the red runs through the characters face is a great way of making the audience know that charcater is in danger. Also, the red connects the two characters perhaps suggesting danger connects the two, or that the bottom character controls the danger. The victim of my trailer is not appearing in the film poster, however I think the red is a good way of representing the victim. I want my font to stand out like it does on this poster, which is why i want a black background.

After receiving feedback on the drafts of our ancillary products, I researched different ideas for a logo of my film.I liked the idea of having blood over the title. I think this is a really good idea as it will represent the genre of my film and give the audience an insight into the nature of the film. Also as I want to keep my poster quite simple and I think this will look good, without being over the top and giving too much away. I will use this on my final magazine and film poster.

Feedback
After showing my trailer to my class I received many different areas of feedback. I shall apply the suggested changes when editting my final cut.
Many people said the font was a bit boring and didn't look as professional as it maybe could. I am going to research different fonts on horror trailers to try and find on for suitable. Also the length of how long the slides of writing were shown for could be reduced so it is not 'boring'.
Another comment was that there were too many straight cuts. To improve this I will use more effects. This will make my trailer more interesting.
My classmates also commented that I should use the film title I am using on my magazine and poster on my trailer. This will also make the trailer look more professional. I will also add a release date or 'this summer' to the trailer. This adds relevant information, that the viewer would be interested in to the poster.
Positive feedback received was that the music changes were good as the atmosphere changes and some cuts were good when used with effects.

Sounds for my trailer.
I have been looking into sounds I feel will work well with my trailer. Using freesound.org I serached for sounds by using key words. My search generated many different sounds and I downloaded about 7 so i could try them out and see which worked best. I have also been using different effects such as dissolve etc. I have completed about half of my trailer and over the next week I will finish my first rough cut.

Editing my film.
This week I have been editing my film in Adobe Premiere. After importing my clips I have been ordering them and watching them back to see which are suitable. After gathering the clips I would be using I looked back to the storyboard for guidence on how my trailer should run. I have been cutting some clips by using the sey=t in and set out point.

Feedback from students.
Although I have already listed the improvements I would make to make to my ancillary products I have recieved some feedback from my fellow classmates about what they liked and what they thought I should change on my film poster and magazine cover.
The main thing that people liked was the pixalated image on the film poster. They also like the mast head on the magazine. They suggested I used the same masthead on my film poster. Improvements were to cut the black out of the masthead using paint.net this would mean I would have a more presentable front cover. Some said they liked the masthead going over the eyes as it conveyed mystery `however others said that it lacked emotion.

Main improvements.
On my mock ups of my ancillary products I noticed that there were many things I would change.
1) The program I used to make my film poster meant that it was very 'blocky'. In my final I would ensure that I used paint.net so that I would not face this problem.
2)I need to add a tagline to my film.
3)Cut out main image so there is a less harsher background
4)Have the masthead of the magazine behind the main image.
5)Stick to colour scheme and add varied magazine coverlines.

Posters.
The colour scheme of a film poster is important because it helps give the viewer certain clues to the genre of the film. Most colours associated with horror films are darker colours. When making my film poster I will use darker colours to connote danger/terror/darkness etc.
in many horror film posters the main image is of the victim or the antagonist. In my poster I have decided to use a still from the trailer of the killer. When making my mock up up I am going to distort the image as I think this adds more mystery to the poster. Also I think it makes it obvious that the character is not the victim by the fact that she is not looking at the camera as usually the victim will look straight at the camera as a plea for help. I want the audience to be intrigued by the character. The picture will be in black and white. I don't want any colour in the poster because I think by having it in black and white it separates it from reality. Also the black and white will make it obvious that the film is a horror which gives the audience an insight into the genre. I will have a 15 certificate on the poster because this is what rating I think my film should be. I want my writing to be in white and in a simple font so that it does not detract the attention away from the focal point, the main image.
